Costa Rica faces abysm in public-sector salaries

Thursday, September 27, 2018

Half of the Costa Rican central government officials are under 40 years of age, so if they keep their jobs right up to pensionable age they would accumulate more than two decades of annuities.

As the rules currently stand, the State will continue to increase its wage bill year after year, whether or not there is a fiscal reform.

In addition, a wage gap has emerged among state-sector workers and also with those of private employers, according to authorities.
