Costa Rica faces energy challenges

Costa Rica's already high electricity prices will keep rising if the government continues to limit the private sector's participation.

Costa Rica is the only Central America country that has lowered the private sector's participation in the energy sector, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

The country is increasingly depending on fossil fuels, and also faces the challenge of drought, as less rain would affect performance in hydroelectric plants.
