Costa Rica inflation hits 5.4 percent

Costa Rica's inflation reached 5.4 percent in the first eight months of the year, according to the country's statistics authority, Inec.

August was the second straight month that inflation surpassed the central bank's 5 percent goal.

Inec added that the 5.44 percent rate is higher than the 3.6 percent for the same eight-month period last year.
