Costa Rica is tops in telecom

Jumping from 80th place worldwide to 57th during the past year, Costa Rica showed the greatest improvement in a ranking of information and communications technology published by the International Telecommunication Union.

In Central America, Costa Rica is followed by Panama in 89th place, while Nicaragua in 123rd position is last.


South Korea is number one worldwide, as it has been since 2010, while Chad has the lowest ranking.


The study, which covers 167 countries, takes into account factors such as Internet access, mobile subscriptions, and connection quality (numbers in brackets indicate the global position of each country).
