Costa Rica leads innovation

With 35.7 points out of 100, Costa Rica placed 54th globally to lead Central America in innovation, according to the Global Innovation Index 2018.

Only Chile scored higher in Latin America.

Panama is second in the isthmus and 70th worldwide.

Nicaragua was not included in the index.

Globally, Switzerland is the most innovative country, while Yemen is last.

The index includes 80 indicators, including political environment, education, infrastructure, and business sophistication in 126 nations (numbers in brackets indicate the overall position of each country).
