Costa Rica receives self-inflicted blow on gasoline prices

Gasoline prices will reach record levels in Costa Rica by the end of this month.

This time the high prices have nothing to do with the world crude markets or the devaluation of Costa Rica's currency, the colón.

Both these factors have weighed on Costa Rican gasoline prices in the past, but now there are very different reasons, and they are found to be in Costa Rica itself.
