Costa Rica's electric railway faces a re-think

The next Costa Rican government will be in charge of launching the inter-urban electric railway for the metropolitan area of San José in 2022.

The national railway authority, Incofer, was obliged to throw out its original plan of granting concessions a stage of a time throughout the course of the project.

The law stipulates that addition projects of a concessioner project cannot be greater than 25 percent of the initial investment. That restriction renders impossible the concept of concession in stages over the 73 kilometer route.
