Costa Rica’s pineapples under fire from Consumers International and The Guardian

Monday, October 11, 2010

Costa Rica’s pineapple industry has met a string of accusations in Europe that include, pollution, low wages and long working hours.

The campaign is being driven by the Consumers International organization and Britain’s The Guardian newspaper.

The attacks were linked to a documentary made by the Banana Link organization that made similar accusations about Costa Rica’s banana industry in the 1990s.
