Costa Rica sees stagnant trade in first half of 2014

Costa Rican authorities are forecasting a stagnant commercial sector for the first half of 2014 due to slow investment and employment outlook, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

The commercial sector is expected to grow 4 percent next year, as it faces one of the lowest points in investor confidence in the last three years.

"For now the only jobs being created are for the winter holiday season, but we hope the next government can reactivate the economy," said Francisco Llobet, president of the country's chamber of commerce.
