Costa Rica starts port specialization project

Costa Rica's Limón mega port is the first step in a plan which aims to specialize the country's Caribbean seaports, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

Dutch firm APM Terminals, in charge of the project, plans to make vessels with special cargoes such as cars, metals and paper dock at Moín, while tourist and cruise ships will arrive at Limón.

The Costa Rican government has spent some half a million dollars in studies to separate and specialize its ports depending on cargo type.
