Costa Rica to export first carbon-neutral coffee

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Costa Rica will soon launch the world’s first carbon-neutral coffee for export. The coffee is produced by the Coopedota cooperative, and will be presented at a ceremony attended by the Foreign ministery and the Coffee Institute, Icafé.

The most recent certification used to promote coffee, and other products, to environmentally aware consumers is the "carbon-neutral" label. By its nature, coffee is a product that has the potential to create a large negative environmental impact.
