Costa Rica to grant port contract of $950 million

Monday, August 23, 2010

Costa Rica’s national concessions council aims to award the tender to build and operate a new $950 million port complex in eastern Limón province in October.

Although some 65 local and international firms bought the bidding rules to participate in the tender, only Dutch company APM Terminals presented an offer. APM Terminals had to present a guarantee of $4 million to participate in the tender.

The new terminal is included in a government port master plan which aims to modernize Costa Rica’s port infrastructure over the next 35 years.
