Costa Rica to improve bad weather airport procedures

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Rainy and excessively cloudy conditions in Costa Rica’s capital could become less of a problem for major airlines operating out of Juan Santamaría International Airport, the country’s principal airport. Avianca Airlines executive vice-president Estuardo Ortiz announced plans to install a new satellite-guided landing system that will be up and running in early 2013.

The new guidance system will help pilots navigate difficult weather conditions, and reduce delays and cancellations during bad weather.
