Costa Rica turns to fuel amid water shortage

A water shortage in Costa Rica means the country has to generate its energy through fuel, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

With a 60 percent rainfall deficit, Costa Rica has to turn to thermal and imported energy sources to supply demand.

Investment in fuel for thermal energy surpassed $12.8 million last week, already half of what was spent in the last months of 2013.
