Costa Rican broadband lags behind in region

Costa Rica is still behind countries such as Mexico, Chile and Uruguay in the number of mobile and fixed broadband users, Costa Rican daily La República reported.

The country is at number seven in mobile broadband, and number five in fixed broadband, according to the most recent report by the World Economic Forum.

Mobile Internet figures have grown due to 60 percent of Costa Ricans owning smart phones and tablets, said Alexander Mora, president of the communications and information technology chamber.
