Costa Rican courts slash feather-bedding of retired bureaucrats

Some 40 legal claims in Costa Rica have been resolved against collective agreements in the public sector against generous perks and privileges that bureaucrats have enjoyed for decades.

Efforts to clean up the state sector's finances have been fortified by seven judgements in the Supreme Court's constitutional tribunal, La República reports in Spanish.
