Costa Rican state power company ICE gets tied in knots with its subsidiary Racsa in new market for telecommunications

Tuesday, December 6, 2011

Costa Rica’s state electricity company, ICE, is getting tied up in knots with its subsidiary Racsa. The two companies are competing with each other instead of with the new competitors from the new open market in telecommunications.

Rather than making the most of Racsa’s ability to provide a quickfire response and the financial strength of the ICE, they are fighting each other in several niches.

Such is the level of competition between the two of them, Racsa could face financial difficulties that would lead to its closure.
