Costa Rican train could be derailed

Plans for a concession to provide an efficient and modern electric railway to connect the four provinces of the Metropolitan Area of Costa Rica could unravel because of a decision by legislators.

Some 40 legislators who together form a majority are skeptical concerning the $1.2 billion cost that would include a $550 million loan from the Central, American Bank for Economic Integration, in addition to a very substantial contribution from state coffers, La República reports in Spanish.
