Dominican big business slams Costa Rica’s ‘straitjacket’ over dispute on trade

Thursday, October 14, 2010

The president of the Dominican Republic’s National Business Council rebuked Costa Rica’s effort at imposing a “straitjacket” on trade relations.

Lisandro Macarrulla said the council supports the Dominican authorities’ position to defend the country in the World Trade Organization and firmly supports the local productive sectors affected by the disagreement between Costa Rica and Dominican Republic.

To appear inflexible in a globalized world is not what’s most advisable to reach decisions among the signatories of free trade agreements, Macarrulla added.
