Dominican Republic sued by Central America on tariffs

Monday, October 11, 2010

Central American countries presented a complaint to the World Trade Organization against the Dominican Republic, whose high tariffs are alleged to discriminate against the region.

The complaint was lodged by representatives of El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala and Costa Rica.

The Dominican government’s regulatory commission on competition imported the 30-40 percent tariffs on dozens of imports from Central America at the beginning of this year.
