Economists trim 2016 growth forecast for Mexico

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

Economists trimmed their expectations for Mexico’s growth this year, as weak global demand and low oil prices are expected to further weigh on an already sluggish industrial sector.

Mexico’s economy will expand 2.7 percent in 2016, according to the median estimate of 34 private economists located both inside and outside of the country who were polled by the Bank of Mexico in late January. The growth estimate was 2.8 percent in December.
