El Salvador beer market gathers froth

Wednesday, February 20, 2019

Five years ago, El Salvador's beer market began to change with the appearance of the first craft brews.

But the structure of the business changed radically when Cervecería Salvadoreña emerged as the buyer of the Regia and Suprema brands, previously owned by Industrias La Constancia.

SABMiller (Industrias La Constancia) had to shed both brands as part of a fusion with AB Inbev.

Despite the change, however, the market has remained stable. Last year, sales of beer in Central America grew by 14 percent while those of El Salvador stayed the same.
