El Salvador earns 2.7 percent more in remittances from emigrants

Remittances sent by El Salvador’s emigrants to their families at home grew by 2.7 percent year-on-year from January through August.

 

Over the period, remittances amounted to $2.37 billion.

 

Remittances in recent years have amounted to some 18 percent of the gross domestic product of El Salvador.
