Thursday, June 2, 2011

El Salvador’s regulators have given the El Chaparral hydroelectric scheme a two-year reprieve for a redesign.

Meanwhile, the state power company CEL will hold planning talks with the builder Astaldi, an Italian company.

El Chaparral reached 25 percent of its construction stage before it was damaged by tropical storm Agatha. The original cost of the project was $219 million.
