El Salvador has one of the highest country risks

El Salvador is one of the countries with the highest country risks for investment in the global market.

The Central American country pays 7.9 percent interest on its bonds which expire in 2035, about 4 percent more than the United States, who pays 3.4 percent interest.

Investor confidence in El Salvador has been hit by constant credit rating downgrades, less capacity to pay its sovereign debt and polarisation in politics.
