El Salvador power tender likely to raise $1 billion

Friday, June 10, 2011

A 350-megawatt supply tender will demand the largest investment ever in El Salvador’s energy industry, some $1 billion.

The tender terms stipulate that only new plants can take part and only for renewable resources, coal or natural gas.

Bids from plants that use diesel or bunker fuel are strictly forbidden. However, 70 megwatts of the energy may be imported.
