El Salvador's big solar plan nears completion

Construction of the third and final stage of El Salvador's solar project, known as Bósforo, is to begin construction next month. In total, the project includes 10 solar plans thought the country with a total potential of 100 megawatts.

Investment of $160 million is being provided by AES El Salvador and Guatemala-based Corporación Multi Inversiones. The first stage, Bósforo 1, is already operational in the eastern department of La Unión.

Stage two is under construction, and the third is to be completed this September.
