El Salvador's economy stagnates

El Salvador's economic activity index grew 1.5 percent in the first half of the year, compared with the same period last year, the central reserve bank said.

In the first quarter, the figure grew by 1.7 percent, while in the second quarter, growth slowed to 1.2 percent.

The sectors that have shown the slowest growth are agriculture, manufacturing and construction.
