El Salvador seeks to boost air transport hub status

El Salvador's port authority, known as Cepa, presented a $490-million plan to revamp El Salvador International Airport.

The project will be carried out between 2014 and 2032, and aims to increase the airport's capacity from 1.6 million passengers each year to 6.6 million by 2032.

The port authority is forecasting a 31 percent growth for the airport by December next year, after the initial phases of the plan have been completed.
