El Salvador textile industry faces big challenges

El Salvador’s highly successful textile industry is facing big new challenges. They include crime, a lack of infrastructure for exports, and the government’s insistence on a major increase on the minimum wage.

The importance of the industry is considerable. Last year, it achieved $2.6 billion in overseas sales, 46 percent of all the nation’s exports.
