Monday, August 29, 2016
El Salvador is looking to implement measures intended to block criminals from accessing Wi-Fi networks from within prison walls for the purpose of extortion, reports local daily El Mundo.
The country's vice president, Oscar Ortiz, has submitted a bill to ensure Wi-Fi networks aren't deployed within a 500-meter space around the country's prisons after reports emerged of prisoners skirting government bans on phone calls by using the WhatsApp messaging service to coordinate criminal activities.
