FAO warns region of aggressive banana plague

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, FAO, warned the region about the expansion of the TR4 strain of Panama disease, which affects banana crops.

The FAO said the disease poses risks to the world supply of banana and trade totalng $8.9 billion.

For Honduras, the disease poses a serious threat, as bananas are the Central American country's top agricultural export product.
