FCC and Norberto Odebrecht win contract for Panama Metro

Spanish construction company FCC and Brazil’s Norberto Odebrecht form the consortium that today won the contract for the first line of Panama City’s first Metro line.

The project is reckoned to have a price tag of $1.5 billion. The line will run for eight and a half miles and take in 16 stations.

FCC and Odebrecht had chosen trains by the French company Alstom.

The rival Metro de Panamá consortium included Italian companies Impregilo, Astaldi and Ghella, with Ansaldo-Breda trains.
