Fears over Costa Rican bill to ban drilling for oil and gas for ever
Monday, June 18, 2018
Many of Costa Rica’s legislators have doubts about President Carlos Alvarado’s proposal for a bill that would ban drilling for oil and gas.
Many of those who support the president’s “green” proposals fear that the bill would close for ever any opportunity that the country might have of finding oil and gas.
The main concern is that electricity tariffs and imported fuel costs could skyrocket, and the bill would mean there would be no going back.
