Firms in Costa Rica prepare for number portability

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

Telecoms companies operating in Costa Rica are preparing for stronger competition with the upcoming introduction of number portability to the country.

State-owned ICE, with the highest number of subscribers, was the first to plan its strategy, followed by Claro, controlled by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim, and Movistar, subsidiary of Spain's Telefónica.

Among the strategies the companies have devised are text message packages, free services, extra technology services and life-long benefits.
