Fitch throws cold water on El Salvador's economy

Fitch Ratings lowered El Salvador's perspective from stable to negative, amid efforts from the president, Mauricio Funes, to solve the country's constitutional crisis.

El Salvador faces problems such as lack of competitiveness and low investment levels, according to Fitch.

Funes started talks with political leaders in an attempt to look for a solution to the power conflict between Congress and the Supreme Court.
