Fonat to blame for drop in El Salvador tourism
Friday, August 16, 2013
Tourism arrivals via highways to El Salvador dropped 7 percent in the last weeks, according to the country's tourism authorities.
The drop comes as a result of the controversial Fonat tax, which tourists had to pay at the border.
However, official predictions remain positive, after the August holiday season saw a 21 percent growth compared to last year's boosted by internal tourism.
