Foreign direct investment in Panama surges by 21 percent in the first quarter
Panama leads Latin America in foreign investment, but the logistics sector, including the canal is still the biggest contributor to gross domestic product.
Direct foreign investment hit $746 million during the first quarter of this year, making it 9 percent of GDP.
Foreign investment in the first three months of this year represent a growth of 21 percent in comparison with the same period of 2010.
