Fruit of the Loom moves to Honduras

Fruit of the Loom will hire 600 people in a Honduran sewing plant, the company said last week.

The Honduran plant is scheduled to open at the end of this year.

Fruit of the Loom is one of the three biggest underwear sellers in the United States, together with Hanes and Jockey.

Since 2002, it has been part of Berkshire Hathaway, a diversified company based in the United States, and controlled by Warren Buffett.

Berkshire in 2013 had revenue of $182 billion.

The headquarters of Fruit of the Loom is in the state of Kentucky, where the company will close a plant.

Fruit of the Loom was founded in 1851 by Robert Knight.
