Fund upbeat on Panama but cautions on poverty

The International Monetary Fund has given an upbeat report on Panama’s economy but warns that poverty and inequality, remain high compared with regional peer countries.

The March report also says that “a comprehensive reform agenda is needed to support sustainable and socially inclusive growth.

This will require boosting human capital and maintaining labor market flexibility to improve productivity and competitiveness" And additional cautionary note points to possible future "shocks".
