Gamesa and Iberdrola Engineering score first turbine in Honduras wind farm
Tuesday, July 5, 2011
A consortium of Gamesa and Iberdrola Engineering has installed the first turbine at Honduras’ only wind farm project Cerro de Hula.
The $300 million, 102-megawatt site will be the largest in Central America consisting of 51 Gamesa G87-2MW generators.
It is also the first wind farm to be built in Honduras. Cerro de Hula will make a major contribution to the region’s development, considering some areas still have no electricity, Gamesa said.
