Gas Natural and EPB lead region in electricity

Some 87 percent of Central America’s electricity market is shared by five business groups that together account for 93 percent of the users.

Spain’s Gas Natural Fenosa has a 22 percent share, the Colombian municipal utility Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), and Costa Rica’s state utility ICE 19 percent.

The Honduran utility ENEE has 15 percent, while AES of the United States has 10 percent.
