Guatemala aims to be axis for processed foods

Tuesday, February 19, 2019

Guatemala's processed food exports  earn the country some $1.6 billion a year, but they could be very much higher, says Enrique Lacs, executive director of the nation's food chamber.

In world markets, Guatemala competes strongly with its processed foods such as pineapple and banana purees; melon and sesame seeds, and frozen fruit and vegetables.

According to the Best Markets 2019 annual survey, the Guatemalan exporters association has identified 400 of the nation's products that could be sold in 32 countries.
