Guatemala aims to be leader in new shopping malls

Guatemala is below average in Latin America in the construction of shopping centers, according to a study by the International Council of Shopping Centers.

According to the report, Latin America is expected to add 20 million more square meters of retail space between now and 2021.

In Central America, Guatemala is expected to contribute 500,000 square meters of new retail space, followed by 230,000, in 93,000 in Costa Rica, 76,000 in Honduras, 53,000 in El Salvador and less than 20,000 in Nicaragua.
