Guatemala and US to suspend arbitration on labor

Guatemala and the United States have agreed to suspend the arbitration process that would analyze the breach of labor laws by the Central American country, the US Embassy in Guatemala City said.

The agreement will formalize the suspension of the lawsuit filed by the United States against Guatemala in 2010.

“The United States and Guatemala have agreed to an implementation plan that includes ambitious, comprehensive, meaningful and concrete actions to improve compliance with labor laws,” the US Embassy said.
