Guatemala appeals for support from international aid

Representatives of 150 countries and financial organizations from all over the world are meeting in Guatemala City for a conference in which Guatemala is pleading for international solidarity for its reconstruction.

According to the president, Alvaro Colom, 150 delegations have confirmed attendance at the International Aid Conference for the Reconstruction of Guatemala.

“Support for the international community is important, but more important is the contribution made by Guatemalans themselves”  in the reconstruction of a series of natural disasters, Colom said.
