Guatemala cocoa output seen rising 50 percent

Monday, June 9, 2014

Guatemala's cocoa bean production is expected to grow 50 percent in the next five years, the country's exporters association, Agroexport, said.

The country currently produces 1,200 metric tons each year, and that number is expected to rise to 1,800 tones by 2019.

The government and private sector's implementation of better agricultural practices will be the main drivers of growth, Agroexport said.
