Guatemala's coffee exports drop 15 percent

Thursday, September 4, 2014

Guatemala's coffee exports dropped 25 percent from October 2013 to August this year, compared with the same period from the previous harvest, the country's coffee authority, Anacafé, said.

The figure represents a little more than 2.9 million 60-kilo bags, compared with the 3.4 million bags from the same period in the previous harvest.

About 50 percent of Central America's coffee harvest has been swept by a severe coffee rust plague.
