Guatemala's coffee exports plunge 37 percent

Guatemala's coffee sales dropped 37.6 percent in October this year, the first month of the coffee harvest, compared to the same month last year.

Guatemala exported 80,771 60-kilo bags in October this year, compared to 129,471 bags in the same month last year, according to the country's coffee association, Anacafé.

For the harvest which just ended, the country generated $756 million in coffee exports, compared with $987 million for the 2011-2012 harvest.
