Guatemala's economy seen accelerating

Tuesday, July 15, 2014

Guatemala's economy is expected to be more dynamic in the second and third quarters this year, said Edgar Barquín, president of the Bank of Guatemala.

Barquín said the economy would pick up its pace due to a good macroeconomic performance and an improvement in the U.S. economy, the Central American country's main trading partner.

"We are convinced that the second and third quarters will be better than the first, which is why we should see similar growth to 2013 by the end of this year," Barquín said.
